OUR PHILOSOPHY & COMMITMENT As well as recognising and placing great importance on the learning aspects which are the driving force of U3A, we also recognise the tremendous value of social activities and the relevant benefits for its members - especially in relation to developing a community spirit! Whether you have lived in Woodley district for many years or are a relatively new arrival, live with a partner or on your own, we very much hope that there will be something for everyone to enjoy which will enhance your learning experiences and widen your circle of new friends! Social Lunches and Afternoons at The Waterside Situated in Fairwater Drive, Woodley, this historic gastro pub provides new, longer-standing members and committee members with an opportunity to meet and socialise. We are extremely lucky to have this lovely venue right in the heart of Woodley which borders South Lake with its easy-walking paths  - great for a stroll to round off the afternoon! Brunch/Lunch menu includes a selection of starters, pastas, pizzas, salads, grilled meats and a range of desserts. Special diets catered for include vegetarian, vegan and gluten free, The Waterside is also used by our Sunday lunch groups for some of their outings. Lunch events are also arranged at the riverside Coppa Club in Sonning when the weather is favourable.
Summer Picnic or Lazy Lunches at Dinton Pastures Enjoy either a picnic event or a lazy lunch at Dinton Pastures Coffee House cafe, where we are able to enjoy this wonderful natural resource with beautiful views right on our own doorstep! The Coffee House offers jacket potatoes with a range of toppings pizzas, sandwiches, burgers and salads including vegetarian and gluten free. Plenty of parking close to the picnic/cafe area.
Social and Quiz Nights at Sonning Golf Club Our first Quiz Night in 2019 was such a success, we now run two Spring and Autumn quiz nights at this lovely location as annual events. A great night to be enjoyed with an excellent range of picture and other quizzes provided by our reguar equally excellent quizmaster. Tasty meals such as lasagne with salad with garlic bread are provided by the clubs' chefs with vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and other special dietary needs catered for. Christmas Extravaganza Party Everyone loves a "Cracking" Christmas Party with members greatly enjoying a variety of rousing Christmas songs and music presented by members of the local 'High Voltage' Choir, a number of whom are also Woodley u3a members. Members are also able to enjoy our special quiz with prizes for the winning 'reindeer' named team, followed by a splendid festive finger-food feast and a special raffle with a hamper as the main prize, and wine and other treats as secondary prizes.
